We offer primary schools the opportunity to visit South Road for educational sessions designed to enhance students' learning about the environment, sustainability, and healthy living. Our allotment provides a rich, interactive setting where children can get their hands dirty and learn about the natural world.
 

How allotments link to the primary school curriculum:
 

• Science & Nature: Students can learn about plant biology, ecosystems, and the process of growing food. Topics like photosynthesis, soil health, and biodiversity come to life when seen up close in a garden.

• Geography & Sustainability: Children can explore the concepts of land use, sustainability, and how food production impacts the environment. This can tie into lessons about ecosystems, resources, and climate change.

• Math: Measuring, planning garden layouts, and tracking growth over time help students practice measurement, data collection, and simple statistics.

• Art & Creativity: The garden is also a perfect setting for creativity. Students can create nature-inspired artwork, or engage in hands-on projects like building birdhouses or creating bug hotels.

• Health & Well-being: Visiting the allotment encourages students to understand the importance of healthy eating and physical activity, connecting directly to the Health and Well-being section of the curriculum.
   

We offer tailored educational visits where students can participate in fun, hands-on gardening activities. From sowing seeds to harvesting produce, these visits help students build a deeper understanding of nature and the food they eat.
